What she had, and what the business around her understood, was accessibility. The persona was the girl next door who had somehow ended up in explicit films and was enjoying it, and that register made her enormously popular in a way that a more distant or more exotic star could not have been. By the middle of the decade her face was on magazine covers, on cinema fronts and in the popular press, and she was one of the very few British adult performers whose name above a title meant something to an ordinary audience. That kind of fame is local, and it is intense.
She died in 1979, at the end of the decade that made her, while she was still working. The career therefore has no long decline and no late reinvention, only a short arc that begins in magazine photography and ends at the height of her visibility. What survives is a body of photographs and a handful of films that document a very particular British moment, when adult entertainment was still a cinema business and a magazine business and had not yet become a video business. Her name still carries that moment. This page records the career in the order it happened.
